Materials

The material specification
comes first.

Steel structures are a core part of our fabrication work. For aluminum alloy, stainless steel and alloy steel, the grade and supply condition set the route for forming, joining, machining and finishing.

Grade + temper

Aluminum alloy

Machined plates, brackets and formed components reviewed by alloy, temper, geometry, joining method and finish.

Include with your drawing

Specify the alloy and temper, mating requirements and surface treatment.

Grade + surface

Stainless steel

Components with specified corrosion resistance and surface requirements. Coordinate forming, joining and contamination control.

Include with your drawing

Specify the grade, surface finish, weld requirements and cleaning condition.

Grade + condition

Alloy steel

Structural and machined components with defined strength, toughness or wear requirements, reviewed against the supplied material condition.

Include with your drawing

Specify the grade, heat treatment, welding requirements and machining condition.

Plan before cuttingGrade. Condition. Geometry. Finish.

Include the material specification and delivery condition with the drawing, so the manufacturing review starts from the same requirement.

Quality control

Inspect against
the accepted drawing.

Link the drawing revision, material, process stages and final condition in an agreed inspection plan. Decide the records required before manufacturing starts.

01

Drawing & material

Confirm revision, datums, critical dimensions, material condition and the certificates required by the order.

02

Process-stage geometry

Plan checks after forming, tack-up, welding and machining where those operations can change the accepted geometry.

03

Dimensions & mating

Select a measuring method suited to the feature, part size and tolerance. Agree support conditions and any mating fixture.

04

Finish & release

Review weld appearance, surface condition, masking, cleanliness, identification and packing against the delivery scope.

Inspection resources

Match the method to the feature.

Available resources include PMT ALPHAm articulated measuring equipment, hardness testing and dimensional gauges. Select the instrument, support condition and measuring range against the agreed check, with suitable calibration status and measurement uncertainty.

Records to agree with the order

  • Material certificates and traceability
  • First-article and dimensional results
  • Specified weld or coating checks
  • Trial-fit and release records

Confirm the required documents and acceptance criteria in the quotation scope.
