Moving the mould between defined production positions

A mould-carrying transfer trolley provides a controlled platform for moving heavy steel formwork or moulded components along a planned route. It is used where the production concept separates preparation, casting, curing or release into different positions and the mould must travel between them.

The trolley is engineered around the supported mass, centre of gravity, rail gauge, travel distance, floor conditions and required positioning accuracy. The mould interface must also define how the load is supported, located and secured during movement and production.

Main characteristics

  • fabricated load-bearing frame developed for the approved mould and operating load;
  • rail wheels and guide arrangement selected for the travel route;
  • mechanical connection points between trolley and mould;
  • drive or towing method configured for the required movement frequency;
  • braking, stopping and positioning devices for defined stations;
  • accessible inspection points for wheels, bearings, frame connections and drives;
  • optional interfaces for power, hydraulic services or production controls.

Travel speed and automation level are project decisions. A short, occasional transfer may require a different solution from a high-cycle factory where several trolleys share the same route.

Typical applications

Mould-carrying trolleys can support precast beams, girders and other elongated concrete elements produced in station-based lines. They are suitable for moving a complete mould, a casting bed or a supported component between preparation, concrete placement, curing and demoulding areas.

Layout review should address rail foundations, gradients, drainage, turning or crossover requirements, crane conflicts and emergency access. The production plan should also define how traffic is controlled when multiple trolleys or other vehicles use nearby routes.

Realjet project support

Realjet develops transfer equipment together with mould and production-line interfaces. The trolley can be supplied for an existing plant or incorporated into a complete precast beam factory layout.

Our custom machinery contract manufacturing service supports heavy fabricated frames, wheel assemblies and made-to-drawing interfaces. Buyers can provide mould drawings, load data, travel requirements and a site layout for technical evaluation.
