Fabricated mast structures for heavy lifting equipment

Crane mast and base structures connect major machine systems through a compact, highly loaded welded assembly. Realjet undertakes construction machinery contract manufacturing for these components, following customer drawings from plate processing and structural welding through interface machining, finishing and inspection.

The mast shown is a representative delivered component. It illustrates a fabricated box structure with connection points and installed details, but it is not a catalogue replacement part. Materials, wall thicknesses, load-bearing features, bore dimensions and equipment interfaces are governed by the approved project design.

Integrated fabrication and machining

Plates are cut and formed before the mast body and attachment details are assembled in controlled fixtures. Welding sequence, restraint and intermediate measurement are planned around the critical datums. After fabrication, specified pin bores, bearing seats, mounting holes or reference faces can be machined to achieve their required relationships. The component is then inspected and coated for the intended service environment.

The quality plan may include:

  • plate and material traceability;
  • weld preparation, execution and specified examination;
  • body geometry and datum verification;
  • bore size, position, coaxiality and face checks;
  • trial assembly with supplied mating information;
  • paint preparation, coating thickness and final condition.
